Google announced on May 8 (local time) that it has added a family mode that allows users to send and receive augmented reality effects and handwritten illustrations to the video chat app Google Duo.
Family mode is available by selecting Family from the menu icon that starts a video call. You can choose Doodle, which enjoys filial piety and graffiti that can create augmented reality effects like Snapchat. Also, during the family mode, the button is hidden to prevent accidental termination of the call.

In addition to the family mode, it also announced a group call function. Google Duo supported group calls for up to 12 people in April, but made them available on the web. You can invite to a group call with just a link without installing Duo on your smartphone. This feature will soon support previews in Chrome.
Google already has Google Meet as a video chat app, and third-party services that can be used for free include Zoom and Skype’s Meat Now. Google Duo has a stronger casual feel than other services with a strong business personality. Related information can be found here .
