James Dyson unveiled an electric vehicle that was developed over the period 2017-2019 and then abandoned its launch to a British media.
The electric vehicle developed by Dyson was named N526, and 600 people were involved in the project. According to Dyson, it is a 7-seater SUV type electric car with dual 200kW motors, a top speed of 200km/h, a zero-back in 4.8 seconds, and a range of 965km with a single charge. This range is twice that of the Tesla Model X, and we tried to realize it with an all-solid-state battery developed by ourselves.
In the interior, the seat is slim, the waist is thick, and the dashboard has a head-up display, floating in front of the driver’s face like a hologram, and choosing a futuristic design that looks like a concept car displayed at a motor show.
There is also a prototype that can be driven by the N526, so Dyson held the steering wheel in a place that was blocked from the outside, and tested it himself. He showed great sadness and disappointment to stop at the stage of development up to this point, but he showed acceptance of the consequences, saying that life is a series of risks and failures.
Dyson has invested £500 million in funding for the electric vehicle project. However, in October 2019, it decided to suspend the project, saying no more commercially viable methods could be found. In addition, the resources that went into the project are focused on issues such as manufacturing all-solid-state batteries. It will also focus on developing basic technologies such as machine learning. Related information can be found here .
