Valve Announces Steam Deck Title Verification Program

Valve will begin shipping its game hardware Steam Deck in December in the US and Europe. Prior to this, Steam started a title verification program that allows you to enjoy games on the Steam Deck. Each game displays four states: Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown.

Verification is a title that can be played without problems on the Steam deck, and to get it, it fully supports the controller and displays the on-screen keyboard as needed. The Steam Deck supports native resolution of 1280×800 or 1280×720, and the text is easy to read. If no compatibility warning is displayed and the launcher is present, you can navigate to the controller. Lastly, when running through Proton, all middleware including anti-cheek functions need to be supported by Proton.

In addition, playback is possible, but the user needs to manually set the control configuration, etc., and the launcher must be searched on the touch screen. Unknown means that it has not yet been confirmed. Unsupported has yet to be confirmed, for example, Half-Life, because it requires virtual reality, and VR-only titles are expected to inevitably become unsupported.

Status appears in the form of badges, both in your Steamdeck repository and in your library. You can avoid disappointment when you buy a game but can’t play it on Steam Deck.
