Huawei opened the world’s largest store in Shanghai, China, why?

Huawei opened the world’s largest flagship store in Shanghai, China on June 24. It is located on Nanjing Road, one of the top tourist destinations in Shanghai, and Apple and Samsung Electronics stores are located right next to it. The site area is 5,000m 2 and is said to be the largest in the world.

For reference, the Apple Store located in Dubai, previously called the world’s largest, is 4,650m 2 . It seems clear that the Shanghai Huawei flagship store is larger than that.

This is the All Product Zone on the first floor. It is exhibiting mainly on the latest products such as smartphones, laptops, smart watches, and wearable devices. Product-related questions can be easily asked to the next employee. It is said that the number of store employees alone reaches 220.

The second floor is the AI Life Zone. Life application examples are exhibited, and an experience corner using smartphones and wearable devices such as smart home and smart mobility is unfolded. On the 3rd floor, there is a gallery, event space and customer center. You can buy a smartphone on the first floor and open it slowly here.

There is a reason Huawei opened the world’s largest store in Shanghai. According to counterpoint, a market research firm, Huawei took the top spot in the share of global smartphone shipments in May, overtaking Samsung Electronics. The difference between the two sides is a slight difference of 0.1% point, but it is clear that Huawei’s smartphone sales are strong enough to overtake Samsung Electronics.

However, with sanctions in the U.S., Huawei smartphones cannot be equipped with Google Mobile Services (GMS) after the fall 2019 model. In developed countries, it is struggling to sell. In order to make up for this, there is no choice but to strengthen sales in China. Huawei opened its first flagship store in Shenzhen, China in September 2019, followed by two large stores.

According to Counterpoint survey, Huawei’s market share in China in the first quarter of this year was 41%. This is a 7% increase from 34% in the first quarter of 2019, a year ago, showing a big gap from the second place Vivo 17%. Huawei’s power is overwhelming in China. The strong sales of Huawei products are not only product excellence, but also providing consumers with a place to experience such products. Huawei plans to expand its flagship stores in the future.
