ARM to transfer IoT business to Softbank

UK ARM announced that it will transfer its IoT service business to SoftBank and focus on semiconductor IP business.

ARM does not manufacture its own CPU like Intel or AMD, but only design the architecture and license the IP to third parties as a feature of the business model. Although the use of low-power processors for mobile devices including smartphones is mostly used, cases such as supercomputers and HPCs are increasingly being employed in comprehensive evaluation including power saving performance.

Arm CEO Simon Segars, the IoT business transfer to SoftBank, provides strong support for partners rather than seizing opportunities for broad market computing solutions, allowing them to stand stronger for core IP roadmap innovation. Said this would be possible.

The transfer of the IoT department to SoftBank is scheduled for September. It is said that ARM is not completely involved and plans to continue working together. Softbank acquired all shares of ARM in 2016 and became a subsidiary. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
