During the Google I/O period held in 2019, Google announced a Driving Mode that allows you to operate your smartphone through Google Assistant without having to worry about driving. At the time of the announcement, it said it would be available in the summer of 2019, but it seems that it is ready a year later.
Reportedly, driving mode is starting for some users. However, there seems to be a big difference from the content announced in 2019. Originally, when instructed to Google Assistant (Hey Google, let’s drive), it enters driving mode, but now you have to switch from Google Map settings. Voice commands don’t work yet.
In driving mode, there is also an atmosphere similar to Android Auto, with the Google Assistant buttons and media controls appear large. The driving mode seems to be transmitted in the server-side configuration, and so far not all users can use it. The implementation is still awkward, but it is worth watching with interest as we have started some user testing. Related information can be found here .
