On November 11 (local time), Amazon announced a feature that will make Alexa devices more useful for older people. An optional addition to the Alexa mobile app, Care Hub, allows users to monitor general activity information for older people and receive notifications when assistance is needed after obtaining counterparty permission.
Carehub aims to reassure other families who are concerned about the healthy life of the elderly family, while at the same time providing the elderly themselves with some degree of independence. Amazon emphasizes that it is considering protecting personal information as it allows the family to know the situation but does not provide specific information. For example, a user can know that their parents are playing music, but they don’t know which song they are playing. It displays all activities by category, not specific information. It can also be set to notify you when there is no activity or when the first conversation with the device occurs during the day. If an elderly person asks for help, he or she can visit the family care hub designated for emergency contact or contact emergency services.
Amazon said CareHub is being distributed in the United States. It plans to expand its functions in the long term according to customer opinions. Related information can be found here .
