Disney + has surpassed 73 million subscribers in one year.
Disney Plus surpassed 73.7 million paid members in early October, just over a year after its launch on November 12, 2019. According to The Walt Disney Company’s fourth quarter financial report, the number of Disney Plus members reached 60.5 million as of August 3rd.
The settlement report shows the number of other streaming service members Disney has. Hulu numbered 36.6 million. This included 4.1 million Hulu Live TV members. In addition, the number of ESPN is 10.3 million, more than double the size of 3.5 million a year ago.
Disney’s D2C (Direct to Consumer) division’s total sales increased 41% year-on-year to $4.9 billion, and operating losses fell from $751 million in the fourth quarter to $580 million. Disney explained that the loss was the result of the improvement in Hulu and ESPN performance and the increase in the cost of creating a new Disney Plus game.
