Twitter removes 70,000 accounts spreading Qionon content

Twitter announced that it had removed more than 70,000 accounts in three days that spread QAnon content, a conspiracy theoretic group active in the online space. It is said that such users were spreading harmful content using multiple accounts on their own.

According to the move, some Twitter users have reduced their number of followers, and some users may have lost followers by thousands. In addition, it is said that in the worst case, the account may be permanently suspended if actions that violate the policy, such as repeatedly sharing tweets with warning labels on Twitter, may be taken.

With this move, Qurnan-related accounts have been suspended, and Twitter users and Republican legislators who believe in President Trump will be mass disappeared. Twitter says Michael Flynn, a former White House National Security Adviser, has had harmful activities involving Qurnan and a complaint of violence. Jim Watkits is the head of the image board 8chan, and there are many posts related to Qurenan.

Twitter is stepping up crackdowns, saying posts claiming that there was corruption in the 2020 presidential election could lead to violence. In addition, Twitter has not previously provided a rule that allows an account to be suspended if tweets with a warning label are repeatedly shared, but the recent video post, including President Trump’s incitement to violence, is responding to posts that cause violence on each SNS. Twitter is also responding to the authors and those who are trying to disseminate the information by revising the policy to inhibit civic activity.

Meanwhile, Amazon is also removing Qurnan related products from its shopping mall platform. Amazon said it is not allowed to sell products that incite hate and violence, or promote or praise, to individuals or groups. Sellers who pretend to be another product and want to bypass listing and continue selling will not be allowed on the marketplace.

Of course, nonetheless, there are still a number of Qurenan related products found on Amazon. Amazon says it will take several days to delete such a product. Amazon recently took steps to remove the application (Parler) that Trump supporters used to plan the riots from their servers and cloud services. In addition, Facebook banned the use of Qurnan related services in October last year. Related information can be found here .
