Gamer Jonas Neubauer, who has won the Tetris World Championship seven times, died suddenly on January 4 (local time). According to the agent’s posting through his Twitter account, it was due to a sudden medical emergency.
He is a legendary player who won seventh championship in the Classic Tetris World Campionship (CTWC), which began in 2010, and contributed to the spread of Tetris in esports. The official Tetris Twitter account also praised him as a great Tetris player in both skill, spirit and softness.
Neu Bauer also broadcasted various games such as Dungeon & Dragon while also active on Twitch. For this champion, who normally worked as a bartender, CTWC posted a memorial message on its website and introduced Neu Bauer’s final CTWC game video.
Neu Bauer was not able to take the throne at CTWC for the last time in 2017, but in January 2018, he cleared the Tetris 100 line and practiced time attack, while he unexpectedly set a world record of reaching 300,000 points in 1:57 seconds. In January, he also scored 1.25,200 points, the world’s highest score in Tetris. Related information can be found here .
