AMD sales doubled year-on-year

AMD reported the settlement for the first quarter. Thanks to the strong growth of Ryzen, a consumer CPU, Radeon, a graphics card, and Epic, a server CPU, it recorded twice as much profit and three times as operating profit compared to the same period last year.

AMD announced the Ryzen 5000 series, desktop CPUs, in October 2020, and the Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors, mobile CPUs, in January 2021. AMD even described this CPU as the world’s best gaming CPU, the most powerful PC processor ever produced.

In addition, the Radeon RX 6000 series, an RDNA2 architecture GPU-based graphics card announced by AMD in October 2020, is evaluated for its performance to compete head-on with rival NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series. Here, AMD is releasing high-performance products one after another, with the CPUdels Epic 7003 series for servers, which appeared in March 2021, scored more than twice the benchmark score of the Intel Xeon series.

Thanks to this, AMD reported the first quarter settlement on April 27, 2021. According to the closing report, AMD’s first-quarter revenue was $3.445 billion, an increase of 93% to $1.786 billion a year earlier. AMD said revenues have increased in both the compute graphics segment and the enterprise integrated semi-custom segment.

Looking at the sales by division, revenue in the computing graphics division was $2.1 billion, up 46% year-on-year, driven by strong Ryzen and Radeon. In addition, revenue from the enterprise semi-custom segment was $1.35 billion, up 286% year-on-year, driven by the strong Epic. Driven by this increase in revenue, AMD’s first-quarter operating profit increased 274% in the same quarter of the previous year to $162 million.

AMD CEO Lisa Su said regarding the first quarter results, AMD business continued to grow in the first quarter of 2021 according to the best products and market demand. AMD sales increased in all businesses and data center revenue more than doubled. Said that it will grow.
