Twitter removes timeline image trimming

Twitter announced on May 6 (local time) that it has changed the image processing in the Android and iOS Twitter app’s timeline to stop the trimming process that has been carried out so far and can display vertical images as it is.

This feature was first uploaded in 4K resolution, which was officially released, and a test run was announced in March. Until now, the image in the Twitter timeline was trimmed to 16:9 size, and when you click it, the original size image was displayed. The trimming itself was judged by AI and cut the appropriate part, but it was pointed out that the composition was made with whites first, and a retweet occurred by cutting off the copyright mark, and there were cases such as copyright infringement complaints.

This problem can be solved by displaying images without trimming the timeline, and creators can expect the advantage of making it easier to show the entire work without having to press down.

However, it is not easy to fill the timeline with a vertically long image, so user verification is displayed as it is up to the aspect ratio of 3:4, but if it is longer than that, adjustment is also made. Also, what can be displayed without cutting is limited to Android and iOS mobile apps, and the web version is not yet supported.

Meanwhile, since 2020, Billboard has reflected the number of music played on YouTube and various music streaming services on the chart, and has cooperated with Twitter to provide Billboard Hot Trending, a daily hit chart that summarizes popular songs on Twitter. He said it would start.

Billboard Hot Trending is made by tracking music-related information in real time, such as topics related to new songs posted on Twitter, topics related to live events, and conversations about old music. In addition, unlike the existing weekly hit charts provided by Billboard, Billboard Hot Trending is provided on a daily basis.

Billboard emphasizes the uniqueness of Billboard Hot Trending, saying that Billboard Hot Trending will track the song that has become a hot topic, not the music that people are listening to. In addition, Twitter said that music is the most popular topic on social media around the world, and Billboard Hot Trending visualizes music information in all other charts and in different ways.
