Apple’s “Do you know?”

In the near future, the possibility that the Apple Watch will be equipped with a non-invasive blood glucose measurement function is emerging, and it has been revealed that Apple is also investigating interest in blood sugar targeting Apple Watch users.

Reportedly, Apple is sending a survey asking how it is using it to monitor health data on Apple Watch for users in Brazil. Among the many questions, the interesting one is asking if you have a diet, medicine, and blood glucose test application installed.

This survey has sections tailored to health functions. Here, we are investigating which ones are most used for the built-in features of the watchOS, such as walking calculations, climbing altitude activities, and workout apps. At the heart of this time is the question of a third-party app for continuous health data management. Along with tracking exercise and monitoring dietary habits, there are options for blood sugar monitoring in addition to medication for other health care.

It’s not uncommon for Apple to send surveys to customers to investigate their product defects or demands for new features. This isn’t necessarily reflected in new products, but last year, a few months after a survey asking what they did with previous iPhone chargers, the iPhone 12 series stopped providing chargers. In addition, after asking iPhone 12 users for satisfaction with Face ID, iOS 14.5 implemented a function to unlock Face ID-compatible iPhones with an Apple Watch while wearing a mask.

This year, a patent application indicating the possibility of measuring blood sugar in the next Apple Watch Series 7 came out, and the following year, an article said that the Apple Watch Series 8 may be equipped with sensors that can measure blood alcohol concentration and blood pressure. It has been a few years since the story of blood sugar sensors has been published, but it may be nearing realization. Related information can be found here.
