Base construction… Mantis look-alike lunar rover

Mantis, a lunar rover made by Germany’s DFKI, resembles a mantis as its name suggests, and can walk on six legs and raise its upper body to grab two objects and carry it.

This robot has been developed even under the Corona 19 disaster, and a demonstration was conducted with the six-wheeled towing robot VERES made by PIAP Space in Poland. This robot has the ability to balance an object with one hand and move it on five legs. It is possible to assemble facilities such as a moon base by flattening the moon and attaching arms to it.

In addition to the project (PRO + ACT) initiated by the European Commission as one of the exploration of future planets, robots from Spain or France are also participating. The objective is to assume that various robots work together to maintain land, build a base, set up infrastructure, secure water and oxygen, and provide hydrogen and oxygen fuel before human astronauts or workers arrive. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
