On June 28 (local time), YouTube announced 4K Plus, an additional YouTube TV service that includes the ability to download 4K content and videos and watch them offline. 4K Plus is available for users who pay $64.99 per month and subscribe to YouTube TV for an additional $19.99 per month.
YouTube TV, launched in 2017, is a paid service that allows you to enjoy 85 channels, including TV programs such as ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, major US broadcasters, and MLB Network sports programs, a major league channel.
YouTube TV Product Manager Katherine Smith announced on the official blog that 4K Plus has been previewing additional features since the beginning of this year so that you can enjoy all YouTube TV live content with the best viewing experience. There are three main features of 4K Plus.
The first is 4K content. 4K Plus, as the name suggests, allows you to enjoy 4K live streaming. Because of this, if you have a streaming device such as a TV that supports 4K, you can watch the content in the clearest image and resolution. In addition to delivering major sporting events in 2021 in 4K, 4K Plus will also provide 4K with games such as basketball and college football, as well as on-demand content such as FX and Discovery Network, a pay broadcaster affiliated with Walt Disney.
Next, watch offline. If you sign up for 4K Plus, you can download programs and watch them offline. You can store recorded programs on your smartphone or tablet in the library and enjoy high-definition content without worrying about communication capacity.
Last but not least is unlimited streaming. In general YouTube TV, the number of simultaneous viewers per account is limited to three, but this limit is lifted in 4K Plus. With home Wi-Fi, the whole family can watch their favorite shows, movies, and sports at the same time. In addition, it is said that soon Dolby Audio 5.1 channel surround will be provided for all YouTube TV users.
