Cryptocurrency factory found in Ukraine using 5,000 PS4s

A large-scale cryptocurrency mining factory using the PlayStation 4 Pro has been discovered in Ukraine.

The factory was discovered in Vinnytsia, a city in the southwestern part of Kiev. According to the National Security Agency SBU report, the plant was located in a warehouse adjacent to the facility of the energy supplier (Vinnytsiaoblenergo) and used more than 5,000 computers, including PlayStation 4 Pros and PCs with graphics cards. In addition, it is said that the factory installed a meter that was different from the actual power consumption, which led to illegal use of power.

The profitability of mining plants is greatly affected by local electricity prices. Even if you mine cryptocurrency, it is meaningless if your electricity bill exceeds this. According to 2020 data, the electricity price for Ukraine’s business is $0.090 per kWh, which is quite cheap in the world. Meanwhile, the company denies any relationship with the mining plant.
