WhatsApp introduces one-time photo viewing feature

WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Facebook, announced on August 3 (local time) a new feature called View Once, which is deleted from chat when you send a photo or video in chat and the other person sees it. It will be rolled out to all users starting this week.

This feature literally allows you to view a photo or video only once. Unlike normal media, you don’t see a preview in chat, you save or share a photo or video with Send, and once you open it, you’ll see the open status in chat.

Facebook says it can be used to display photos of clothes worn in stores only once or to send sensitive items, such as Wi-Fi passwords. In addition, ViewOnce transmission media as well as general WhatsApp messages are protected through end-to-end encryption.

However, it is important to note that it is possible to take a screenshot when viewing a transmitted photo or video in ViewOnce. In Facebook Messenger and Instagram, there is a Vanish Mode in which the record is deleted when the chat window is closed, but here it is a specification that informs you when you take a screenshot. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
