IKEA to sell clean energy to Swedish households

Ingka Group, which develops IKEA, announced on August 17 (local time) that it will start selling clean energy generated from solar and wind power through IKEA’s subscription service STRÖMMA. Power usage can be checked on the mobile app, and users who have already purchased solar panels from IKEA can sell and restore surplus power.

At the time of service launch, the availability of Stroma is limited to Sweden, but IKEA is selling solar panels in 11 markets. Such solar panel users can also check the amount of power generation in the app. It also aims to provide IKEA energy services in all markets covered by Inka Group, the holding company of IKEA, by 2025.

Inca Group Gonagyeja said that it expects to realize a fully cyclical climate change-responsive society based on renewable energy and resources by 2030. Ikea also announced that it would end the sale of all non-rechargeable alkaline dry jerseys by October 2021 from a waste and sustainability point of view. Related information can be found here.
