Blackmagic Design’s live broadcast camera

Blackmagic has announced a live camera. The two cameras introduced this time are the BlackmagicStudio Camera 4K Plus and the BlackmagicStudio Camera 4K Pro. The mount uses an MFT mount.

Blackmagic supports the dynamic range and color of cinema cameras for movies, and saves it as Blackmagic RAW so that normal cameras can express colors properly. It is perfect for shooting in dark places such as live houses as well as studios with stable light sources.

Blackmagic Studio Camera is a camera designed for live broadcasting. It has abundant input/output terminals, a 7-inch high-brightness display and touch screen with side handles, and a physical control to easily control the subject, so you can comfortably use it for long shots. In addition, a large tally lamp was installed at the top to check the camera status.

These products are equipped with camera control and trigger, HDMI and USB Type-C terminals, 3.5mm earphone and microphone terminals, and higher models are equipped with 12G-SDI, 10GBASE-T Ethernet, and Canon terminals. No need to connect to an SDI converter to handle HDMI in an unstable disconnection in live broadcasts where mistakes are not allowed thanks to the SDI terminal. If you use a BNC cable, you can connect directly to the ATEM Constellation, talk back, or remotely control the camera.

Separate focus and zoom can be controlled with a USB Type-C device, and BRAW can be recorded to media like URSA and BMPCC for later editing. If follow focus and zoom demand are added as options, it can be used with all Blackmagic Studio cameras, from low-cost photo lenses to broadcast lenses, all equipped with USB Type-C.

Another program return function is also included, so a program feed from the switcher is displayed in the viewfinder instead of the camera display at the push of a button. In a large-scale live broadcast, if a photographer waits for a long time for the camera in charge to be used, it is possible to grasp the whole picture without leaving the position by watching the program as a program return.
