Amazon Is Developing Food Control Orderable Refrigerator?

Reports have emerged that Amazon is developing a refrigerator technology that can identify the food inside and order or recommend what it lacks.

Amazon already has a lot to do with food. There is Amazon Go, a store without a clerk that has been in service since 2016. The store adopts the Just Walk Out system, and cameras and sensors detect which products have been removed from the shelves, and automatic payments are made at the store entrance.

According to the report, Amazon has been developing refrigerator technology that can detect food inside for two years. It is said that the Amazon Go Just Workout system is used to identify food, and Lab126, an Amazon research and development team, is also involved.

And combined with user buying habit data, it recommends which foods to buy next. For food purchases, you can use Whole Foods, a supermarket affiliated with Amazon, and Amazon Fresh, a sales service, and they also offer recipe suggestions. It is also exploring partnerships with Alexa, a voice assistant feature.

Samsung Electronics is also announcing similar products for refrigerators that can manage internal food and place orders. According to the report, Amazon is not planning to manufacture the refrigerator itself, but will provide the technology to third parties. Such smart refrigerators may increase in the future. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
