A one-seater eVTOL created by a Swedish startup

Jetson One is a single-seater eVTOL from Swedish startup Jetson. After successful flight tests using the prototype in 2018, the commercial version has already sold 12 units, the number expected to be produced in 2022. Currently, we are accepting pre-orders for 5 units, the equivalent of 2023.

It is known that the eVTOL industry is already crowded with more than 150 eVTOL titles such as flying cars and air taxis, but most of them have not yet reached the stage of commercialization. But in this announcement, Jetson is appealing that Jetson One is ready to offer to customers.

Jetson One is a one-seater eVTOL with an aluminum frame, equipped with a large-capacity lithium-ion battery, but the weight of the aircraft is limited to 86 kg. It is an aircraft intended for pure enjoyment, and its flight performance can reach a maximum speed of 102 km/h. It is equipped with 8 propellers on 4 arms and floats with a pit power of 88kW. According to Jetson, if the motor stops for any problem, it can fly safely.

Control is done with the left and right levers, and minimum information is displayed through the right lever and the dashboard panel using a smartphone in front. Of course, there is also a flight computer mounted on the aircraft. For example, it is possible for the pilot to release the stick and automatically land on the spot. It is possible to prevent problems with the terrain identification and obstacle avoidance function through lidar in advance. In the worst case, it is also equipped with an emergency landing parachute that can be quickly distributed even in the event of a fall from a certain altitude.

The size of the aircraft is 2,845 × 2,400 × 1,030 mm, but when not in use, the width can be shortened to 90 cm, so the actual size can be reduced to a size that is not different from that of a bicycle.

The Jetson One comes as a 50% assembled do-it-yourself kit and requires a private pilot’s license to ride. There is also an optional prop guard, but you may have to be prepared that there will be no protection in case of a fall. Other than that, the flight time is only 15 minutes, so keep that in mind.

Still, if you want to enjoy flying safely in a safe place, you can pre-order with Jetson for $92,000. The down payment is $22,000. Related information can be found here.
