Foldable smartphone optimization Android released

Google announced Android 12L, a new version of Android optimized for large screens such as tablets, foldable smartphones, and desktop devices.

Android 12L is a version with new features optimized for large screens based on the existing Android 12. The SDK will also be released so that Android app developers can use this SDK to provide a UI optimized for large-screen terminals.

The operating system will be available in early 2022, just in time for Android tablets and foldable smartphones. A preview version is also coming soon to the Lenovo P12 Pro. Android already supports multi-window, but rather than making use of the big screen, it is staying in the UI that looks like a simple enlarged smartphone screen. On the other hand, Android 12L notifies you when it detects that the screen width is more than 600dpi, and the lock screen and apps are switched to a two-column layout.

At the bottom of the screen, just like on iPadOS, a taskbar appears, making it easier to open apps. Split screen that displays two apps at the same time can also be executed by dragging and dropping icons from the taskbar. We are also improving the letterbox so that developers can see the app better.

Google is telling Android app developers that it is better to fit a UI that fits the screen size of each device. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
