Official portable battery that attaches magnetically to the back of the iPhone

On July 13, 2021 (local time), Apple released the MagSafe Battery Pack, an official portable battery that responds to MagSafe, a magnetic wireless charger for the iPhone 12 series.

As the name suggests, the MagSafe battery pack is a portable battery that supports MagSafe. The battery itself can be charged with a Lightning cable and can be powered while charging. The battery’s own output is up to 15W, and the official website states that both the MagSafe battery pack and iPhone can be quickly charged by using a power adapter of 20W or more. During pass-through charging, it seems that if the iPhone side is charged with 5W, it will self-charge with 15W. The battery capacity is unknown because it is not specified.

The iPhone 11 Smart Battery Case, a silicone case containing the iPhone 11 portable battery, has a dedicated camera button that can launch the camera app when the iPhone is locked or unlocked. These physical buttons are not mounted.

A number of other companies’ MagSafe compatible portable batteries are also appearing. However, these third-party products are only compatible with MagSafe. Since this MagSafe battery pack is an official product, the battery level is displayed on the iPhone battery widget and on the lock screen.
