At an online keynote held on November 8, AMD explained in detail Genoa and Bergamo, which are processor families based on Zen 4, the next-generation architecture.
The AMD Zen series is being commercialized until Zen 3 in 2020, but AMD is preparing Epic, a processor series for the server and embedded markets, separately from Ryzen, a general processor series. Genoa and Bergamo also announced the details of the Epic series products this time. Genoa for application servers, which was previously revealed, is a processor with up to 96 cores based on Taiwan’s TSMC 5nm manufacturing process. It supports DDR5 memory and PCI Express 5.0. Product launch is scheduled for 2022, and sample shipments to partner companies have already begun.
Bergamo is based on the improved Zen 4c with the goal of increasing the number of cores. c stands for Cloud. As you can see here, this product assumes the use of a cloud server. The processor will be up to 128 cores and support DDR5 memory, PCI Express 5.0, CXL 1.1, RAS and AMD Security Suite. Product input is planned for the second half of 2022 to the first half of 2023.
