On October 6 (local time), Google implemented Stories in the Google Discover tab of its iOS and Android apps. The story is a card-type article with an emphasis on visuals and images.
The card is marked with the news publisher’s logo, company name, and article title, so you can read the article by clicking on it. You can provide links to other content such as full-screen videos, photos, and music, so you can check the link for more detailed information other than a brief description in the story.

Stories appear at the top of the Discover tab in the Google app, as well as in Google search results. To publish a story on the Google app, simply write a story and post it on your website. Stories you publish on your website automatically appear in relevant Google search results and Discover. Google Search and Discover show not only stories created by companies, but also stories created by individual creators.

The producer can decide not only story revenue generation, but also hosting and publication period, and can get views and participation statistics as feedback.

Google supports story creation, such as drag-and-drop tools (Web Story editor for WordPress, MakeStories, NewsRoomAI), so even individual creators can create stories in minutes. Creating a story is also easy. In addition, since Discover is used by more than 800 million monthly users, it is emphasized that the story displayed at the top of the Discover tab is highly immersive.
Google has announced that it has built a story function in cooperation with news media such as Forbes to vitalize the story function ecosystem. The story feature has already been implemented in the US, India and Brazil. Related information can be found here.
