IKEA has introduced a new app that lets you imagine furniture in your home room and even purchase the product. Customers will be able to batch process interior design checks to orders without having to go to the store.
First, enter your room dimensions through the app and choose from a variety of tastes or lifestyle choices. This way, I can visualize how Ikea furniture will be covered in the room. You can then order the product through the app.
The object can be a virtual furniture as well as a smartphone in your chair, which can be changed to another shape or color, or compared with a similar product at the same price.
IKEA has already introduced IKEA Place, an augmented reality app in 2017. With this app, I was able to simulate how living space could be changed by virtually arranging furniture in all places such as homes and offices. At the time, however, it did not support purchasing until the direct purchase.
IKEA is trying to shift from a business model based on a large-scale store located in the suburbs to a focus on online sales. So far, customers have chosen to visit a store and choose a product that they want to change from a home to a virtual room to order goods.
IKEA hopes that customers will have the advantage of creating a room with the AR app, then reducing the time and cost to go back to ordering the IKEA online store, and IKEA will be able to show a wide range of products that are limited in their display at the store .
The new app will be launched in France and the Netherlands, and will be expanded to eight countries by the end of the year, including Germany, the United States and China. For more information, please click here .
