YouTube checks the copyright protection by comparing the content owner’s file or the video content uploaded to YouTube through a mechanism called Content ID. YouTube announced a change in its copyright management policy using such Content ID.
Content ID is a structure that is thankful to content owners, which allows revenue distribution if the content owner acknowledges the reuse of video materials posted on YouTube. Content raised to creators is uniformly infringed on copyright, so it is not deleted, but a structure in which the video remains after the content owner’s approval.
However, there has been a case of applying in a short file using this method and attempting to steal profits from the producer. From the producer’s perspective, it becomes difficult to object to the same file that is not intended at all, but takes only a small part, even if it is intended.
YouTube changed the manual application system in July to a form that asks for a time stamp on which part of the video the content is being used. The Creator Studio editing tool used a time stamp to remove some of the content raised from the video, automatically cancel the application, and restore revenue generation.
This policy change also prohibits content owners from choosing the option to receive revenue from creators who create files that are too short. However, only if you have made a manual application, automatic application does not apply.
This change can be said to take into account the balance between copyright holders and producers. Related information can be found here .
