Dedicated facial recognition system for bartenders?

British data company DataSparQ has developed an AI Bar system that remembers customers approaching the bar counter with facial recognition and adds them to the waiting list. From the customer’s point of view, it is a win-win system that reduces the time lined up at the crowded bar counter and allows the operator to receive more orders.

The system uses a standard web camera and display screen. The camera recognizes the faces of people lined up and marks each face with a small green circle. On the right side of the screen, each face thumbnail shows the time until the ordered drink is served.

AI Bar can also add a feature called FaceTab to the face screen by flagging a person under 25. You can also ask the bar staff to verify your ID. It can be set so that only people who have verified their age can order drinks.

This system saves the face for a short moment, even if the orderer is a little away from the counter. It is not that the face image is not saved. Since it says that face images and data will be deleted within 24 hours, the information is stored and deleted for a short time. The data itself is stored in memory, but the thumbnails are stored on the local drive and are erased when the session ends.

The accuracy of the facial recognition system is over 80%, but if you accidentally check the same person twice, the bartender must correct the error using an app so that the machine can learn. This technology itself can be nice as it allows customers to avoid hellish queues at the bar counter and give the store a lively time. Data Spaq said it is in the process of negotiating to supply the system to the whole country next year. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
