Startup Catalog (CATALOG), located in Boston, USA, saved the entire English Wikipedia text in DNA.
According to reports, Wikipedia’s full text data capacity is 16GB. If it is the same size, it can be stored in a flash memory or SD card, but the living cells that store the data are about the size of a piece of nails. Moreover, biological cells have the advantage that data damage is less likely to occur than magnetic recording media such as hard disks. Storage media such as floppy disks, CDs, hard disks, and SSDs have been steadily evolving, but bio storage media may emerge.

The catalog side is a partner of the Arch Mission Foundation, a non-profit organization that stores knowledge of the Earth, and considers this DNA storage as a way to store human knowledge outside the solar system as well as the Earth. The speed that the company’s DNA storage device can use is 4MB per second, and if optimized, it can use 125GB per day. Related information can be found here .
