Bitcoin annual power consumption, Swiss national level

A report comes out that catches the eye with a report that the power to maintain the Bitcoin network exceeds the usage of one Swiss country.

As a result of a measurement by a research team at the University of Cambridge using the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index (CBECI), a measurement tool, the annual power consumption of Bitcoin is 64TWh. It is said to be more than Switzerland or Check and less than or equal to Austria and Colombia.

In addition, such power consumption amounts to 0.25% of the world’s electricity. There are various models for the estimated power consumption of Bitcoin, and knowing the exact figures is of course difficult. However, it is clear that it once again confirms that both mining and trading require enormous power. Related information can be found here .
