Jeff Bezos sells Amazon stock, why?

Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos was found to have sold $1.8 billion worth of Amazon’s shares (2,160 billion won).

Bezos’ sale of $1.8 billion worth of Amazon stocks he held for three days from July 29 was revealed through a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s SEC. The stock price of Amazon sold by Bezos is 950,000, or 0.2% of the stocks issued by Amazon. The closing price on July 31, calculated at $1,900 per share, is expected to be worth $1.8 billion. Of course, Bezos still owns 58.1 million shares of Amazon.

This is the first time Bezos has sold Amazon stock since October last year. According to foreign media, it is the first time in Amazon’s history that so many stocks have been sold in such a short period. Bezos announced at a press conference in 2017 that he plans to sell Amazon stock at an annual rate of $1 billion to finance Blue Origin, a space development company he operates. Therefore, the purpose of the sale of the stake is estimated to be funds for Blue Origin.

Also, when Bezos divorced his wife Mekenzie Bezos a while ago, he transferred about 4% of Amazon’s stock. Still, it was reported that it owned 12% of Amazon’s shares worth $114.8 billion, but sold $1.8 billion worth of that. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
