It is reported that Impossible Foods, which developed and supplied 100% vegetable 100% hamburgers with dripping juices, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration FDA for sale in US grocery stores. Impossible Burger, developed by Impossible Foods, added an ingredient called leg hemoglobin derived from soybeans to vegetable meat hamburgers to realistically reproduce the real juice in a real hamburger. However, this ingredient has not been treated as a food in the United States until now and has been reviewed by the FDA.
It is expected that the market for fake meat will be expanded to target health-oriented Americans, as it is possible to sell fake meat that is indistinguishable from real meat in American restaurants and fast food chains that are already being supplied, as well as supermarkets in the future.
Burger King, on the other hand, announced that Impossible Whopper, which uses 0% meat patties from Impossible Foods, will be sold at 7,000 stores in the United States starting August 8. This product costs $1 more than a hamburger with regular meat patties. Burger King emphasizes that it has 15% less fat and 90% less cholesterol compared to the price.
Beyond Meat, which produces similar vegetable meat burgers with different ingredients, has already begun selling in grocery stores, and many places are out of stock this summer.
