Solar probe acquires 1.5 times more data than expected

The Parker Solar Probe, a solar-approaching observation ship launched by NASA in August last year, has conducted two close observations so far and has sent 22GB of observation data to Earth for the first time.

The Parker probe has secured a good communication condition, and the amount of data sent has increased than expected. The research team is attempting to download the second collection data with 25 GB. The second observational data download is scheduled between July 24th and August 15th. The Parker probe will transmit 25 GB of total collected data using the installed sensors and measurement equipment during this period. The results of the received data analysis will be released within this year.

The Parker probe will also begin to observe the third sun on August 27 after all the second observation data are transmitted. In this observation, data is expected to be obtained so that we can see why the solar corona is getting hotter than the sun’s surface.
