Wi-Fi 6 certification program started

The Wi-Fi Alliance has started the Wi-Fi 6 certification program, the next-generation high-speed wireless standard.

The official name of Wi-Fi 6 is IEEE 802.11ax. However, it is difficult for ordinary people to remember names with such symbols. Therefore, the Wi-Fi Alliance decided to collectively call it Wi-Fi 6 so that it could be known that it is a 6th generation Wi-Fi like mobile communication like 5G.

Wi-Fi 6 has less speed drop than the previous Wi-Fi standard, even when it is used by multiple clients as well as high-speed communication. In stadiums where many people gather, crowded stations, airports, etc. until now, using a wireless LAN will have a difficult memory due to the slow communication speed. In addition, even in the house, if most of the family uses smartphones, tablets, and laptops, there is a possibility that more than 12 Wi-Fi devices are operating.

Wi-Fi 6 has the characteristic that it is difficult to decrease the average throughput per person even in an environment where such a large number of users or devices hang on the network. Network products such as routers that support Wi-Fi 6 are already on sale. Among smartphones, Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S10 was the first Wi-Fi 6 supported model.

This time, the Wi-Fi 6 certification program was officially launched. Related information can be found here .

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
