It is said that Google Maps is conducting a beta test in incognito mode for some users. This feature was announced during Google I/O 2019, a developer event held by Google in May, and seems to be closer to realization.
According to reports, some Google Maps users received an invitation on September 2nd, and the mod is now available. Incognito mode is similar to that of Chrome. It is a mode in which the behavior history such as location data and search on the map is not stored in the user account or locally.
Coming soon to @googlemaps , when you turn on Incognito mode in Maps, your activity—like the places you search or get directions to—won’t be saved to your Google Account. Just tap from your profile picture to easily turn it on or off. #io19 pic.twitter.com/z7GRkkmDbn

What we’ve seen so far is that you can turn incognito mode on and off in the Android app, and select it from the menu that appears by tapping your profile picture. Then close the app and restart it. Google Maps with incognito mode activated displays a black banner at the top of the screen to clearly indicate whether the function is activated.

In addition, it is said that the location mark, which was usually in blue, turns to dark gray. Some have released an image that appears to be able to use incognito mode on Android Auto.
It is not known when incognito mode will be released to general users. Currently, it is only available in the Close Beta program, but it seems that it will be available for official release with more privacy guaranteed. Related information can be found here .
