Amazon Music announced that the number of users exceeded 55 million on January 22 (local time).
Amazon Music is competing with Spotify and Apple Music and offers six programs, from paid services for $15 per month to free services including advertisements. This number is one of the major milestones in Amazon Music’s growth since its launch in October 2016. Of course, it lags behind its rivals Apple Music and Spotify. Apple Music surpassed 60 million paid members in the summer of 2019, and Spotify recently announced that there were 284 million global users in the quarter, of which 13 million paid users.
According to Amazon, the number of subscribers to Amazon Music Unlimited, which offers 5,000 HD music tracks in the US, UK and Germany, has increased by more than 50%. In addition, in countries that do not provide HD sound sources, the number of users in France, Italy, Spain and Mexico has more than doubled. Amazon Music recently started offering services in Brazil.
Steve Boom, vice president of Amazon Music, said he is proud to have achieved a great milestone and is overwhelmed by customer reactions to Amazon Music. He added that he continues to invest in high-quality audio with Alexa and Amazon Music HD, and expects to bring new innovations to customers and the music industry beyond 2020.
Of course, Amazon also offers music through combined sales. Presenting a presentation to a Prime member or a customer who is considering joining Prime. These combined sales are advantageous in attracting customers thanks to economies of scale, and policies such as discounts for prime members are attractive to consumers considering paid subscriptions.
Prime members receive individual subscriptions for $7.99 per month, $79 per year and a discount on the Family Plan. Likewise, a monthly subscription fee of $3.99 is limited to one device such as Fire TV and Echo. Related information can be found here .
