It allows you to develop apps that require more precise location information than GPS. Initially, it was targeted for augmented reality apps, but it has the potential to be used to improve mobility, logistics, and robot application performance. In addition, Landscape Technology aims to expand its scope so that all machines equipped with cameras can recognize its surroundings.
Edward Miller, CEO of Landscape, described the company’s Vision Engine as a large-scale mapping pipeline that creates 3D maps from ordinary photos or videos. GPS is provided to the vision engine using the visual location service API through the camera. It is possible to grasp location information with higher precision than that.
