‘Lyrics helper robot’ learning in VR

Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is researching and developing a domestic helper robot that can be called a futuristic maid robot. Using virtual reality to store and remember movements, organize dishes and clean the floor.

The goal is to create a general-purpose robot that can be used on a human level at home, focusing on the technological breakthroughs necessary to make the home assistant robot feasible. This robot can handle housework for the elderly and others alone at home.

Therefore, instead of programming one by one, robots remember how humans move in a virtual reality space by following their movements. Once a task is first taught in a virtual reality space, machine learning coordinates the movement and repeats the rest. Robots can also share learning data with other robots.

Of course, this robot is not in the market because it is still in prototype. However, in preparation for an aging society around the world, such a domestic helper robot may be needed.
