Uber, chat with Google Translate in the app…

Uber announced on February 27 (local time) that it has updated the app, added chat translation, and redesigned the navigation function.

Uber has a structure in which it can be used without communication with the driver as much as possible so that travelers can use it freely. However, sometimes it is necessary to check where the driver comes from, and at this time, the language barrier may become an obstacle and communication may be difficult. Therefore, a chat translation function was added so that users can use it with confidence.

This translation function is linked with Google Translate, and when you tap the chat message translation icon, the other party’s message is converted to the specified language. Currently, Google Translate supports 108 translations, so it can cover most countries.

The translation function is implemented not only on the customer side, but also on the driver’s side, making communication easier even when the native languages are different.

In addition, the improved navigation function provides an easy-to-understand indication of the pickup location, the time remaining until arrival, and the place where the person riding with you is waiting. The navigation function to the pickup location also informs you in detail the direction of walking. Uber says the feature will be available to users around the world in the next few days.
