An employee (Chelsea Klukas) working as a product design manager at Oculus has turned the mask into a display that can appeal to others for social distancing in a more fashionable direction. Various emoticons, such as sounds, can be displayed along with the text saying the recommended distance is 6 feet. It is possible to express through LED equalizer graphics.
This mask is the inside of the fabric plus an LED display. It was inspired by the dress technology that used LEDs before, and the LED panel was hidden inside the fabric based on a mask pattern. Here, fabric and thin fabric were added to illuminate the LED. One side of the mask was closed and not all parts were sewn so that the panel could be inserted or removed. Then, you can create your favorite characters and dots with a dedicated app and display them via Bluetooth.
On her site, she says that she will pre-order masks for $90 and donate 60% of the proceeds to the World Health Organization’s WHO’s COVID-19-related fund. Related information can be found here .
