A simulator that AI suggests efficient city development

Sidewalk Labs is working on the task of designing the Eastern Waterfront district in Toronto, Canada and working with the community to help the city grow. The goal is to achieve new standards of sustainability, low prices, mobility, and economic opportunities by combining human-centered urban design with advanced technology. To this end, we have developed a simulator for the specified conditions and AI to make the most efficient distance.

For example, if you set the desired open space, density, and sunshine time in a restricted area, machine-learned AI creates hundreds of possibilities and calculates how the urban design will affect the surrounding environment. If you look at the video, you can see the actual demo scene. It looks like you are watching the game Sim City. It is said that this software was created in partnership with Google.

The results of AI are not adopted as they are. It is provided as an alternative to architects and local communities. Rather than building a city plan from scratch, it allows you to get started with statistical calculations and evidence-based ideas before you start.
