Since the cure for Corona 19 has not yet been established, it is recommended to rest or recuperate at home for mildly ill patients who need a respirator. The MIT Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAIL) has developed the Emerald, a small device that aids in telemedicine that analyzes and speculates bio-signals from self-isolators with artificial intelligence.
The Emerald is a device that calculates the number of patient movements and breaths by analyzing signals with the size of only one-1,000th of a cell phone existing in the space with artificial intelligence. There is no need for the patient himself to carry the measuring device himself by receiving the smile signal continuously in the room. Also, even if there are multiple objects, they can be measured individually.
It is said that several hospitals and nursing facilities have already used emeralds to prove their usefulness. As a result of monitoring COVID-19 infected people in self-quarantine with emerald, it was possible to confirm the recovery of their health status in breathing or walking situations. Emerald said that it was able to measure the course of the usual rush of breathing frequency of Corona 19 patients and the return of walking speed to normal.
Because the possibility of infection occurs when doctors directly perform tests and nurses measure various vital signs, many of the most important medical workers in Corona 19 are infected. One doctor who used Emerald to monitor patients explained that emerald minimizes and suppresses the risk of infection for doctors and nurses by providing vital health data without patient contact.
It is said that trials using emeralds for monitoring patients with sleep apnea and dementia as well as COVID-19 patients are beginning. Related information can be found here .
