Microsoft announced on March 12 that it will change the release date of the Edge browser from 6 weeks to 4 weeks. It will be changed from Edge 94, scheduled for September 2021.
This change is in line with the previously announced Chrome release timing changes. Chrome and Edge are also based on open source Chromium, and Microsoft is actively supporting development. Also, like Chrome, it provides an Extended Stable option that updates every 8 weeks for corporate users who are burdened with frequent updates. Of course, you won’t be able to receive new features in the meantime, but security updates will be provided every other week.
Edge, which has a lot of unique features such as the recent tab portrait display and the ability to wait for the background tab, is not different from Chrome and maintains the release timing, and is expected to show its presence as an alternative to Chrome in the future.
