Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 778G, the top SoC in the middle range.
The Snapdragon 778G is the successor to the Snapdragon 768G announced in May 2020. The CPU and graphics performance are each 40% higher than that of the previous product, and the AI performance has doubled the performance to 12TOPS. By improving AI performance, it is possible to reduce background noise and improve camera quality when making a voice call, thereby improving the quality of video calls.
By strengthening the image processor, it is possible to shoot at 22 million pixels simultaneously with three cameras, including wide-angle, ultra-wide angle, and telephoto, and 4K HDR10+ video recording of over 1 billion colors is possible. On the network side, the X53 5G modem-RF system is mounted to support various 5G connections such as Sub-6, SA/NSA, and DSS in millimeter wave. The 5G communication speed is up to 3.7 Gbps, and Wi-Fi 6 is also supported.
The Snapdragon 778G-equipped device is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021, and Honor, Motorola, Oppo, Real Me, and Xiaomi are planning to introduce the installed products. Related information can be found here.
