Amazon Adds Body Movement Measurements to Fitness App

Amazon announced on June 3 (local time) that it will add Movement Health, a body movement measurement function, to the health management platform Halo announced in 2020.

Amazon Halo can perform exercise using a fitness band, measure heart rate, sleep, and more, and supports body fat percentage measurement using a smartphone camera. From a health or fitness point of view, such a measurement is necessary, but when thinking about health, whether movements such as bending the lower body or extending hands and raising something are also important factors.

Movement health measures these movements using a smartphone camera. When five exercises such as one-sided balance or squat are filmed, computer vision and machine learning are used to calculate a standard score out of 100 for stability, mobility, and posture. This evaluation is said to be comparable to the face-to-face evaluation of a professional trainer.

In addition to evaluation, it provides a customized exercise video program that helps improve specific areas such as stretching, balance, and breathing. It is recommended that you evaluate once, exercise, and then re-evaluate every 2 to 4 weeks. Movement Health says it will be available to Halo subscription members in a few weeks.
