Samsung’s 5nm processor for wearables

On August 10th, Samsung Electronics announced the Exynos W920, a new chipset for wearables. The industry’s first 5nm processor made with EUV (extreme ultra-violet) manufacturing process and built-in LTE modem realizes powerful and efficient performance required for wearable devices.

The Exynos W920 is equipped with two Cortex-A55 CPUs and Mali-G68 GPUs. Compared to the previous model, CPU performance is 20% higher and graphics performance is 10 times higher. Application startup is faster and interactive 3D GUI can be realized on a 960×540 qHD display. In addition, the low-power Cortex-M55 for AOD (Always-On Display) can be mounted to reduce power consumption in AOD mode compared to the existing Exynos.

According to Samsung, the Exynos W920 supports a new integrated wearable platform jointly built with Google and will be adopted in the next Galaxy Watch. Related information can be found here.
