Microsoft acquires Video Editing Clip Champ

Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Clipchamp, which provides video production and editing services in the browser. However, the specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Clip Champ, which started to be provided in 2013, is an online video production and editing service that realizes an easier and simpler operation system than existing video editing software. In addition, fast processing using GPU acceleration and rich templates and materials are available. Of course, the created video can be easily shared on social media.

In response to the acquisition, Microsoft said ClipChamp is well suited to extend the productivity experience powered by Microsoft 365 Cloud. Although it does not disclose specific business development, there may be functions for Edge and Office applications, which are its own web browsers. Edge is still one of the major browsers, but the difference is gradually disappearing, with the development base being Google Chromium. If the Edge has a video editing function as standard, it will help differentiate itself. Related information can be found here.

I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
