Google Calendar Adds Automatic Rejection of Meeting Requests

On October 20 (local time), Google announced for Google Workspace users a feature called Focus Time, which allows users to automatically reject other people’s meeting requests in Google Calendar.

So far, Google Workspace users have supported absent events with the ability to automatically reject meeting requests. The focus time introduced this time is a modified image, and if you set a desired time to focus on the calendar, it is a function that automatically refuses to attend. It has a different shape from the regular schedule, and a headphone icon is displayed during focus time.

According to Google, as the number of chats and meetings increases due to the change in the work environment caused by the COVID-19 disaster, it is becoming difficult to devote time to core tasks. The focus time function is trying to solve this problem.

In addition, Google Calendar for Workspace introduced the Time Insights function that can aggregate meeting time in September, but focus time can also be counted accordingly. The focus time will be applied in stages from October 20, but the target is limited to Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Teaching & Learning Upgrade, Education Standard, Education Plus, and Non-Profit users.

Unfortunately, it cannot be used for general users or business starters mainly for individual entrepreneurs. Related information can be found here.
