Parker Solar Probe is a probe that is responsible for observing the outer corona of the sun. It has a structure that does not melt thanks to its own water-cooling system and heat shield that protects the gas, and it is also the artifact closest to the sun.
NASA says the probe has started to orbit for the second time around the 24th orbital meeting. After the first solar tour, it reached the farthest point in the earth on January 19th. Here, the probe will again reach the apogee on April 4 through orbit toward the sun.
The probe reached an important milestone on the 161st day of the mission. Since the first orbital meeting, the project management team has learned about how the probe works and responds in the solar environment, and the prediction is accurate.
The probe is now transporting 17 gigabytes of valuable scientific data to Earth on the massive antenna of the Deep Space Network, which NASA has begun for deep space exploration. All will be received in April.
The probe is collecting unprecedented data on this occasion. Scientists will be able to learn how the materials and particles of the sun’s corona and stars are created as they move at high speed. It will be a discovery that will reveal the mystery of the sun.
Another milestone is that the probe has been in full operation and the system has come online. The probe set a record of 29.7 million kilometers on the surface of the sun on October 29 last year. It broke the record of Helios 2, the closest probe to the sun in April 1976. When passing through the perihelion in April, it will pass the 24.1 million k-branch and seem to break the record again.
It is June 2025 that the probe closest to the sun. It will be 6.16 million kilometers from the sun. The probe spins the sun at 690,000 km / h, but it takes 88 days. This speed is fast enough to move from Philadelphia to Washington, DC in one second.
In preparation for the passing of the perihelion in April, the tower will delete the transferred files and prepare storage space for the probe.
