Chromium-based MS Edge browser, RC version released

Microsoft is launching an Edge browser based on the Chromium Blink/V8 engine on January 15, 2020. Prior to this, a new icon design was unveiled a while ago, and the RC version was also released on November 4 (local time).

The new Edge Browser RC version can be useful for enterprise IT managers to try and verify in advance. Chromium Edge can be expected to run much faster than before, and like the collection feature, it will be possible to collect websites, attach notes and share them with colleagues. Existing corporate systems can also be safely accommodated in Internet Explorer mode.

In terms of security, which not only corporate users but also general users, by default, the function to track and block unused or harmful sites was activated. There is also a mode to limit tracking. It also comes with a privacy feature that claims to be safer than other browsers.

When it comes to business functions, Microsoft says it will make Business Bing search more secure at the same time as the Edge RC version. The Bing search engine is equipped with intranet file search and corporate data indexing. It seems to be the same function as Google Cloud Search. However, it may be more advantageous to search for a corporate intranet that stores large amounts of Office 365 files. In addition, you can quickly search by adding more than 100 connectors such as Salesforce, Service Now, and Box.

Microsoft cannot remove Internet Explorer from the Windows 10 system that is already in use, but it plans to introduce only Edge on a new PC. In the next few years, Internet Explorer is expected to disappear unless it is intentionally installed on almost all Windows PCs, regardless of the general public or business. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
